Is Your Home Pet Friendly?

Posted by Devon Shryock

The recession hit the housing market hard, but one thing that it didn’t touch is the pet market. People are saving money and likewise spending more time at home with their pets. Rather than going on expensive vacations, families are investing time and money into their four legged friends. S.E.A Construction is a big supporter of furry friends in families and we want to share some of the best home ideas we have seen with pets in mind.

Dog Friendly Baths

It has been reported that only 6% of families take their pets to the groomers. The rest are choosing to shower them at home. There has been a new trend in remodeling to include animal bathing centers. These baths have lower fronts for the animals to step into and a removable shower head to bring closer to the fur. The image is an example of a JentlePet Spa by MTI Baths.

Built-In Play Areas

If your home is animal friendly, take an inventory of all of the play surfaces. If your cats are jumping from couch to couch, you should take the chance to incorporate a more animal-friendly play area. Rather than buying a new cat scratcher or noisy toy, include the play piece into your home design. The cat tower from House Beautiful is a great example of incorporating pets into your design (no, we are not saying this should be the statement piece in your entertainment room, but maybe the laundry).

Updated Eating Areas

Don’t let your dog bowls be a tripping hazard in your home. It is very common to incorporate an eating or sleeping nook in areas of the home for the family pet. One of our favorites is adding an eating area for your animals in an unexpected area. A great example is this kitchen inspired eating nook for the family pooch. We already know that your pet is the king or queen of the house, so why hide it?

The pet industry is booming, and shows no sign of going down. We all love our family pets, so take the chance to include them into your home remodel plans. If you are ready to begin your home remodel plans, give us a call now. S.E.A Construction loves building our four legged friends into the designs.

Good article. It is quite unfortunate that over the last decade, the travel industry has already been able to to deal with terrorism, SARS, tsunamis, bird flu virus, swine flu, along with the first ever entire global recession. Through it the industry has really proven to be robust, resilient as well as dynamic, finding new approaches to deal with adversity
