Rearrange Furniture to Maximize Space and Freshen Up a Room


If you’ve lived in your house for many years, your living room may be in the same arrangement as the day you moved in. Map Out The Room

Every room is different in terms of its size, shape, and location of adjoining doors and walkways. Before you begin moving furniture, make a scale drawing of your living room and furniture to see where pieces will be able to fit. Get It Out

One of the first things you should do when rearranging your furniture is to get rid of pieces that aren’t necessary. If you never use the recliner, it’s just just taking up space that could be used for a more useful piece of furniture or to increase the amount of walking space available. Put it in another room or storage while you arrange the rest of your furniture.

Remember the Walkways

If there is more than one door or entryway into the room, draw an imaginary line between them. Placing furniture on these lines turns your coffee table into an obstacle navigate around whenever you walk past it. Make it easy to walk between rooms and avoid putting furniture on these lines if possible.

Have Fun

The most important thing to remember is that you’re just moving furniture. If you try a layout and it doesn’t work, you can easily try another one. The worst case scenario is you’ll end up back where you started.
